Dr. Empaynado’s training includes the treatment of benign and malignant diseases of the colon, rectum, and anus. He has particular interests in minimal invasive surgery, laparoscopic colectomy, ano-rectal physiology, and tranconsultation at Virtua and Kennedy Hospitals.

Dr. Empaynado received his bachelor’s degree from The Pennsylvania State University and earned his medical degree from the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey-New Jersey Medical School (UMDNJ-NJMS). He completed his General Surgery internship and residency training at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He completed an additional year of surgical sub-specialty fellowship training in Colon and Rectal Surgery at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Empaynado was born in the Philippines, and moved to Edison Township, New Jersey, in Middlesex County as a young boy.
